A Good Reason to Keep Your Fat Pants
I was a fat girl once. Not anymore, but I was. No, really, I was.

My friend Linda is one-in-a-million, the kind of friend to whom you can cry or complain, and who can have you in fits of laughter minutes later. She’s one of those rare people who infuses everyone around her with energy and enthusiasm for life, because her effervescence is just that contagious. Linda and I worked…
I’ve been sick for three weeks running, first a cold and then the flu. Translation: I haven’t run in 16 days, getting in only two runs between the cold and when the flu hit me. And other than those two runs, I haven’t done anything else aside from some very light yoga. I am,…
My gosh, it’s good to be sitting here, writing this post. Like the first day of spring after a long, but really beautiful, winter. I don’t know quite where to begin, Wedding Season having driven me to lots of repeat favorite summer recipes and old standbys, just to make it through the busyness in one…
Yesterday, Eli got his second deer of the season, this one with his rifle. He looks sedate in the photo here, but that’s deceiving. He was practically bursting with adrenaline. At any rate, I will now have about 175 pounds of venison in the freezer – which means I won’t be buying beef for another…
Hey there. If you’re new to the blog, this is my weekly dinner menu, which outlines six dinners (plus one yummy weekend breakfast idea), intended to help busy folks – like you – with meal planning. I love pumpkin, and I believe fall just isn’t complete until you’ve had pumpkin bread, pumpkin soup, and one of those iconic coffee drinks, the pumpkin spice latté. Last fall, my colleague Tom brought a platter of his wife’s pumpkin bars to work, and I immediately fell in love. They were moist, more like cake…

I struggle with fat. I want to one day have a pair of fat pants in my closet to remind me of what I used to be. Instead, what I have are a bunch of old photos of how thin I used to be. I have gained well over a hundred pounds in the last 10 years. I don’t want to be fat anymore.
I admire what you have done and your drive and commitment to stay fit. You rock.
I found you! I found you!
Love this. Inspiring. Consider me a “regular”. 🙂
I came here from Ann V’s blog, and wanted to tell you I’m really enjoying your writing. This is a great post. It is so easy to have an inaccurate perception of ourselves, and you’re wise to approach it that way. As long as you don’t get self-congratulatory and realize that there is always the danger of going back, the fat pants are a great reality check. I’ve not lost so much as you, only 30 lb or so, but I, too, can say that I really never want to go back. And the way I’ve been acting this past week does NOT line up with that, so I appreciated the encouragement!
