What to Cook for Dinner this Week

I hope you’ll forgive the fact that the weekly dinner menu is a day late; with two sickies in the house and the smaller one causing sleepless nights, it’s been a rough week. On the up side of things, the weather warmed up again yesterday, and the snowbanks are shrinking quickly here. The weather patterns here are so different from Michigan that I sometimes feel like I’ve moved to another planet, rather than just halfway across the country.

Anyway, here’s the weekly menu.

Monday: Mac and Cheese. The homemade kind. Because we almost never have it. And yes, I’ll make a salad to have with it.

Tuesday: Chicken Curry and Root Vegetable Soup. Serve with warm naan.

Wednesday: Tuscan Kale and Sausage Stew with Mashed Potatoes. This Crock-pot dinner is savory and delicious. And with the built-in mashed potatoes, there’s no need for additional sides. Add a glass of white wine for the grown-ups.

Thursday: Turkey Chili. Minus the cinnamon. Topped with shredded cheddar, sour cream, and thinly sliced green onions. A handful of tortilla chips on the side.

Friday: Takeout Night. Our Friday tradition, followed up with a trip to the used bookstore and usually a stop for ice cream.

Saturday: Pizza Margherita. Nothing is better on a Saturday night. Especially with a Caesar salad and a glass of chilled white wine. And an episode or two of the new season of House of Cards (which we’re trying not to marathon through) or The Americans.

Sunday: Ratatouille with Sausage. I love this dinner. It’s not exactly seasonal, I realize, but as long as I can find zucchini in the market…

Weekend Breakfast: Dutch Baby Pancake. I haven’t made this in a while, and it’s such a treat.

Happy weekend!
