Episode 27: Homeschooling on the Go
In this episode of The Relatable Homeschoolers, we’re talking about homeschooling on the go. What we mean by “on the go” is when you take homeschooling outside of your home.
Heather shares about her family’s experience last spring, when they lived in a camper for six weeks while they traveled across the western part of the United States. While they kept to some of their regular curricula as they traveled, they also took advantage of the learning experiences they encountered as they went.
Annie incorporates homeschooling on the go by taking a kid with her whenever she has to travel for work or serving. They do their work in the car or the hotel room. Annie also shares what she does when the wheels come off the bus (figuratively speaking, of course!).
Harmony is enjoying living back in Michigan and taking her girls to places they haven’t experienced. She also shares how setting a tone of curiosity inspires your kids.
Homeschooling on the go can simply mean keeping your eye out for learning experiences wherever you are already planning on traveling. Whether conferences, museums, or art expos, the internet can help you find learning experiences when you travel.
Finally, not mentioned on the podcast (because we just learned about it!) is the app Autio. Autio is an audio library of location-based storytelling where you can learn about the area you are traveling through. Perfect for road trips!
