Episode 8: Getting Your Kids to Listen
Have you ever said something to your kid 7,426 times, and they still don’t acknowledge you? We get it! In this episode, we are talking about how to get your kids to listen, which matters even more when you’re in the role of both mom and teacher.
Being a parent is hard work; adding the role of educator/teacher takes it to another level. However, our biggest takeaway for getting your kids to listen to you starts with you listening to your kids.
We’re not saying we have perfect kids who always listen to us, but between the four of us, we have several tools in our toolboxes to help us. Nobody wants an unhappy homeschool. Having the intuition to know if your day needs a reset, the kids need a snack, or if you–the mom–need a time-out can help your days to be smoother.
As homeschool parents, we need to consider discipleship as well as discipline. Teaching our kids acceptable behaviors and attitudes–and enacting consequences for unacceptable ones–is essential in teaching our kids to listen to us.
